Helpful Writing Tips

We can bring people to your ad...
but, your ad will have to make them want to act!

Tell People What You Are Trying to Sell
Start your ad by using a name that best identifies your product or service, something that's quick, easy to find and identify your item.

  • Ford Explorer versus saying sport utility vehicle.

Why Buy Yours?
Provide useful information - best feature, quality, value or benefit - that distinguishes your item from others...

  • Great condition, low mileage, saves time, color, size, and anything else that will encourage people to act.

Avoid Jargon or Other Short-cuts...
Unusual abbreviations and other uncommon descriptions complicate your message - spell it out.

How Much is that Doggie in the Window?
Save yourself and the reader time by telling them how much. If you want to negotiate, then say so.

Make it Easy to Contact You.
Don't limit your success by making it difficult for people to reach you, at a minimum, always include your daytime and night-time and cellphone numbers with best times to call. If you have email, include that too.

Call to Action.
Close the deal by creating some urgency with saying, "it won't last long", "best-offer gets it", "call today", whatever works to call people to act. And, it's even okay to sound desperate if that's what works to move it.
